When I first started last Summer, a portion of my walk to work was past unmowed lawns and houses in need of some new paint, with more people sitting on corners than actively walking around (and not too many of those to begin with). Fall and this Spring saw many of these houses fixed up, and gradually, more people biking and walking around.  Still, on certain blocks, I usually feel somewhat alone as a commuter. That changed today. After a break where I just kept waking up too late to walk, I’m suddenly not the only person looking ridiculous in business clothes and “sensible” shoes like sneakers or flip flops. And that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  I feel less crazy too.
