I paused today, a moment after using the word “disaster” (in relation to a flourless cookie the other night – everything I’d read about the recipe was amazing, so I must have done something wrong). It hit me mid-sentence: I didn’t always pronounce it like that, did I? Why would I say it like that? But a friend at work speaks that same word that very same way.

We talk like who we talk to. And this leaves me wondering: who else do I talk like?
